South Padre Island, TX - If you are worried about having a huge hurricane come to a beach near you, here is the secret to avoiding its wrath:

Invite the media to throw most of their resources into covering it from your beach. The hurricane will shy away from you and no more problem.

Childress, TX - A funny thing happened on the way to Las Vegas. The new car has it's first ding. In fact it now has several dings, a few out right dents and a cracked windshield. Deland, FL - Today we were at a trailer park that until today was not passable by regular traffic. After looking around the debris one cannot help but wonder why no one was killed here.

Deland, FL - 20 dead, many more hurt and billions in damage, mother nature has thrown a right fit at Central Florida. I'll be here at least through tomorrow.

Port St. Lucie, FL - Erensto came and went, twice. The storm slowed to a crawl allowing me to experience it twice. Once on Miami Beach, and once again in Port St. Lucie. So far there is nothing to speak of in the way of damage in Florida. If it continues to fall apart, the Carolinas have nothing to worry about.

Miami, FL - Tropical Storm Chris is approaching the Gulf of Mexico. A couple days ago its path took it right over Miami. But now it looks like it's headed for Cuba. Each new prediction track takes it a little farther south.

I've got to get the journalistic by product out of the truck.

Santee, SC - Tropical Storm Beryl stood us up. He veered more to the east and now is not expected to make land fall in the United States. At least it was a nice drive.
